Describing the Sanguine Temperament

Sanguine Temperament

Say hello to the socialite! Anything for attention, really… anything.

Sanguine’s love people and being around them all the time. Their presence brings life to the party. They’re mostly happy and act as if they don’t have a care in the world, because they don’t. The sanguine temperament is very optimistic and can find the silver lining in just about any situation.

“Live life to the fullest” is a Sanguine’s motto. They tend to live a fast paced life and slowing down or loneliness will stress them out. Ever seen someone with a thousand friends on facebook? This is very common for the Sanguine temperament as they know many people, but truly have very few close friends. Why? The Sanguine is so busy meeting or wanting to meet new people. They have a gift for striking up a conversation with anybody.

The sanguine temperament is the life of the party!

If you’ve ever seen the movie Clueless,  then you have a simple picture of the sanguine temperament tendencies. Alicia Silverstone’s character, Cher, had tons of friends and was interested in social type of subjects. (i.e. who’s dating who, who’s wearing what, and where’s the next party?) This is not to say that the sanguine temperament is literally clueless, but tend to like shallow waters when it comes to thought.

Have you ever started talking to a person and they lost interest. They began to scope out the room as if they were looking for someone. The Sanguine temperament will do this as the conversation is not exciting or filled with too much “boring details”. The Sanguine want light and exciting conversations and they scope out the room to find a person who will give this to them as they tend to be self listeners.

The sanguine temperament tends to be the best in sales as they love people and communicating. They tend not to be the thinkers and usually aren’t the neatest people, because they’re busy socializing and crave attention.

The sanguine temperament is the skin hungry temperament. They love to touch, hug, or cuddle. Sanguine’s love to smell chocolate, flowers, or anything else nice with pretty packaging.

As for leadership? The Sanguine temperament will want to be the boss, as usually the boss is the center of attention, but once the load becomes too big or they run into a crisis, the Sanguine tends to find other people to take on the responsibility or in extreme situations, “jump ship”.

Sanguine’s are great at being fun, but tend to be flaky. They tend to be very selfish and tend to have narcissistic tendencies. They’re not very good at keeping promises or showing up on time. After all, the sanguine does have to make an entrance when everyone is watching!
